The
5th "Aloha Hawaiian Night" in Kailua Village at the
Kailua Pier celebrates an evening of pure Hawaiian Music
and Hula on March 29th, 2008.
This
showcase free admission festival invites visitors and
residents to enjoy a beautiful sunset blessing with
the arrive of local canoe clubs members and a torch
parade to light the tiki torches Special guest recording
musicians will play slack key and sing their hearts
out for all in attendance. Our local hula halau will
perform their favorite hula and share their aloha spirit.
Remember to wear your favorite Aloha attire for the
featured Aloha Shirt and Mu'u mu'u contest. Prizes are
awarded to the most colorful and vintage shirts and
mu'u mu'u .. " Special invitations for "Taste of Kona"
which include local favorite restaurants like Fish Hopper,
Pancho and Lefty's, Kuakini Cookhouse, Splasher's, Hard
Rock Café', and Kona Taeng on Thai. make the evening
complete for Kona -Pacific cuisine. An incredible Silent
Auction with items from Kailua Village merchants and
restaurants, tour ,air and ocean activities along with
a Norwegian Cruise Lines Seven day cruise for Two are
auctioned off to benefit the Kailua Pier beautification
projects. Destination Kona Coast and Kailua Village
Merchants Association co- sponsor this festival with
the County of Hawaii. Come celebrate and enjoy a cultural
and heritage night of local style entertainment featuring
Maunalua & Mo'opuna. Blessing at 5:00PM and legendary
Fire dancer lightens up at closing at 10:00PM
Last
year's musicians were Makana, Grammy Nominee, Cyril
Pahanui, Grammy Award Winner ,Mike Kaawa, and Kata Maduli
This year's invitational musicians will be announced
in late January.
